Choose a target input source for an installed app, then enable Follow Apps. You can also select an input source in WeChat, Terminal, or a writing app and save that rule directly from the menu bar.

Frequently asked questions
What to know before you start
Is this app an input method?
No. It manages input sources already enabled in macOS, including lock state and app rules; it does not provide an input engine or dictionaries.
How do I make WeChat, Terminal, or another app use a specific input source?
Choose the app and target under App Rules, or switch to the target inside that app and click Remember in the menu bar. With Follow Apps enabled, the input source switches automatically the next time that app becomes active.
What happens if an input source used by a rule is removed or disabled?
The rule is kept instead of being silently deleted. Input Method Manager marks its target as unavailable so you can choose another enabled input source.
Do I need to install or authorize Squirrel?
No. Input Source Lock, standard app rules, menu bar controls, and the desktop input status bar work independently. Folder access is requested only for features that modify Squirrel configuration.
Can Input Source Lock and Follow Apps run together?
No. Enabling either automation mode stops the other so they cannot compete.
Can the app read what I type?
No. It reads input source names and system identifiers. When Follow Apps is enabled, it also reads the active app name and identifier locally to match a rule; it never monitors keystrokes or typed content.
