System requirements
macOS 13 or later, with Squirrel installed and successfully deployed at least once.
View download status →First launch
SquirrelSet automatically checks Squirrel, input sources, the active configuration directory, and whether configuration files can be read safely.
Save and apply
Changing a control updates only the preview. After you click “Save and Apply,” SquirrelSet checks conflicts, creates a backup, writes, and redeploys.
A change did not take effect
Open Deployment Diagnostics to review the save, redeployment, and verification record. Avoid repeatedly overwriting configuration files by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Why must Squirrel be installed first?
SquirrelSet manages Squirrel configuration. It does not provide an input method engine, dictionaries, or an input source.
Can I choose any configuration directory?
No. SquirrelSet automatically identifies the directory actually used by Squirrel for the current macOS user, preventing checks in one location and edits in another.
Can I restore a change?
Yes. SquirrelSet creates a complete configuration snapshot before saving. You can inspect and restore snapshots from Backup and Restore.
Will the preview look exactly like the real Squirrel window?
The preview is designed for comparing layout, font size, and spacing. Final rendering still depends on the current Squirrel and macOS versions, so small differences are possible.
Contact support
The official support address will be published before the Mac App Store release. When reporting an issue, keep your macOS version, Squirrel version, and relevant Deployment Diagnostics records. Do not send dictionaries, input content, or complete configuration files containing private data.
