Every managed save creates a safety snapshot
Save & Apply checks for conflicts and records the relevant local state before safe writing, Squirrel redeployment, and verification. Snapshots stay on your Mac and are grouped by a complete feature operation, including files that did not exist before the change.
Save and close any text editor that is modifying the same Squirrel YAML files before using Save & Apply.
Read Deployment Diagnostics before retrying
Find the record matching the time of the failed save. Its stages indicate whether the problem occurred during conflict checking, writing, redeployment, or final verification. Recent local log details help distinguish an inaccessible path from a Squirrel deployment failure.

Restore the complete snapshot and redeploy
- Open Backup & Restore and find the snapshot from before the unwanted change.
- Confirm its time and feature.
- Choose Restore All & Redeploy without editing files during the operation.
- Wait for restore, redeployment, and verification to finish.
The app also protects the current state before a restore. Damaged or incomplete snapshots are not presented as normal restore points.
Verify real input after recovery
Use Squirrel in a normal text field. Test short and long candidates, paging, comments, and Chinese/English mode. Confirm the candidate window has returned to the intended layout and reopen Deployment Diagnostics to verify the restore completed successfully.
If restore also fails, keep the operation time, stage, and error summary for support. Do not send a full configuration containing private user dictionaries.
